Engineering Program Manager

Samara is looking for an Engineering Program Manager to drive the development process for current and future Samara products. Not only will the Engineering Program Manager be responsible for program definition and execution, they’ll work with leadership and product development teams to set strategy and prioritize engineering efforts to design, develop, and refine the product features that directly impact exceptional customer experiences.

This is an in-person position; all candidates will be required to be on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Samara’s new feature and product development processes to meet timeline, cost and quality targets provided by the leadership team
  • Work with engineering management to identify critical milestones, structure phase gate activities, and justify resource investments to meet goals
  • Keep multiple product development teams in sync and ensure cross company communication of program status via internal dashboards and progress meetings.
  • Identify, raise, and mitigate risk throughout product design, supplier selection and readiness, manufacturing, and testing phases
  • Work with engineering and internal teams to direct activities critical to the product development cycle, including:
    • Ensuring product requirements are clearly defined and well-understood across all stakeholder teams
    • Structuring qualitative and quantitative data to support leadership team in critical design decision making
    • Collaborating with supply chain management to understand material availability and constraints to communicate back to product development team
    • Working with suppliers to ensure total comprehension of design intent, changes, data delivery, and requirements
    • Supporting build processes (kick-off, clear to build, change control, etc.) from first prototypes through mass production
    • Tracking, managing and prioritizing manufacturing design feedback through issue creation, mitigation, and closure
    • Ensuring accurate and complete capture of performance and other product goals (quality, durability, reliability, compliance) via validation experiments

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of engineering program management experience in prefab construction, automotive, manufacturing, or equivalent industries
  • BS/MS in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent in experience
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent fundamental engineering knowledge, with examples of applied engineering successes in work, projects, or academic endeavors
  • Someone who gets excited about solving a wide range of problems under tight timelines
  • Data-driven and analytical approach to process development and improvement
  • Collaborative, team-first mentality and passion for empowering those around you
  • Ability to motivate cross-functional internal teams and external partners towards a common goal
